AFP Conference Education Committee Reviews Record Number of Proposals
August 9, 2017
AFP’s Conference Education Advisory Committee has reviewed a record 559 proposals to present at the 2018 International Fundraising Conference and made tough decisions about which sessions will be offered next year in New Orleans.
The Committee’s work underscores some of the exciting progress being made on the 2018 conference, from meeting logistics and registration to keynote speakers and educational sessions.
This past week the conference planning team sent notifications to all those who submitted education session proposals for the conference. This year AFP received a record-breaking 559 proposals, including many high-quality, innovative and thoughtful ideas for sessions. All of them were reviewed, rated, and discussed by the Conference Education Advisory Committee, a volunteer group of AFP members from around the world who help plan the conference education program and select education session topics and presenters.
AFP can schedule only a fraction of all the great proposals that we receive, particularly this year when interest was so high. During an intense three-day meeting at AFP International Headquarters in mid-June, the Committee made many difficult decisions to narrow the field and select 65 of the proposals received. (For further insight into the CEAC's selection process, read this article by Rebecca H. Davis, Ph.D., CFRE, from last Summer 2016: "What I Learned from Serving on AFP's Conference Education Advisory Committee.")
AFP-IHQ would like to thank everyone who submitted a proposal for the 2018 International Fundraising Conference.
Although this stage of the planning process is complete, our efforts to fill out the education program is far from over. We will continue our hard work to bring you an exciting and comprehensive selection of fundraising education.
Registration for the conference will re-open in September, so stay tuned for more details about what you can see, hear, and learn at AFP's 2018 International Fundraising Conference in New Orleans!
