(July 28, 2008) AFP members are always accepting new challenges and exciting career opportunities, as well as receiving accolades for their commitment and service. Here are some job announcements, appointments, promotions and recognitions for July 2008.
Dee Beaudette accepted a promotion as executive director of Peak Education in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Cynthia Bobruk is currently a consultant for CKB Advisors in San Juan Capistrano, Calif. She has accepted the position of director of development at J.F. Shea Therapeutic Riding Center in San Juan Capistrano.
D.C. Dreger, ACFRE, has been promoted to vice president of Custom Development Solutions Inc. (CDS) in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He formerly served as senior campaign director for CDS.
Christy Eaton has been named the new executive director of HomeAid Northern Virginia in Chantilly, Va. Eaton previously served as director of development for the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in Reston, Va.
Jennifer Forbes of Ottawa, Ontario, has assumed her first official role in fundraising as communications and fund development manager at Citizen Advocacy of Ottawa.
Kathleen Frantz was recently hired as the director of development and alumni relations at The Meadows School in Las Vegas, Nev. Kathleen was formerly a sales manager at the Las Vegas Review Journal and prior to that worked in higher education fundraising at the Community College of Southern Nevada Foundation and the Southern Oregon University Foundation.
Ashley Goodon, CFRE, manager of annual giving at The University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, recently received the Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education Rising Star Award 2008.
Angela Henstra is now associate director of development for alumni, family and friends at The Boston Conservatory in Boston, Mass. She previously served the institution as the annual funds coordinator/alumni and parent relations.
Amber J. MacKenzie has been named vice president for development at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich. She previously served as assistant vice president for advancement at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.
Erin Mote recently joined CHF International as the manager of resource development in Silver Spring, Md. Erin was previously employed with The Coulter Companies in McLean, Va.
Dan H. Murrell, CFRE, is now director of planned giving at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tenn. He formerly worked at the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis.
Peggy McCue Rhoads is now regional director of development at the American Cancer Society in Houston, Texas. She formerly served as vice president of development at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
Barbara Talisman, president of Talisman Associates Inc. in Chicago, Ill., was honored to receive her Master Trainer certificate after completing the AFP Faculty Training Academy program in Minneapolis this April.
Danielle Johnson Vermenton is now the associate director of annual giving at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta in Atlanta, Ga. She formerly served as financial development officer for the American Red Cross, Southeast Service Area.
