Member Benefits

AFP GREATER ARIZONA CHAPTER

The best fundraisers continue to grow through professional development programs, networking, mentorship, resources, career opportunities, communications, and involvement. In addition to significant member benefits via AFP International, the AFP Greater Arizona Chapter connects and supports you in many ways:

Monthly Educational Luncheons: Our monthly educational luncheons allow you to network among your peers while receiving continuing education on a variety of subjects in the field, all at a reduced member rate.

Special Programs & Workshops: Several of our educational luncheons feature accompanying workshops to give you hands-on practice to further your skills.

Webinars & Audioconferences: We offer numerous live and recorded webinars & audioconferences throughout the year, presented by national leaders in philanthropy.

Networking Mixers: For a more casual atmosphere, we offer regular networking mixers at the hottest spots across the Valley where you can meet other AFP colleagues.

Annual Statewide Conference:  Benefit from specific sessions on fundraising to meet your individual needs, and enjoy a great time to network with the other two Arizona Chapters usually held in Phoenix, Tucson or Flagstaff on a rotating basis, with a reduced price for members.

Annual Philanthropy Leadership Day:  Join an annual celebration in conjunction with National Philanthropy Day to honor Outstanding Philanthropists, Volunteer Fundraisers, Corporation/Foundation and Fund Raising Executives of Greater Arizona. The opportunity is given for every member organization sponsoring a table to present the Spirit of Philanthropy Award to someone from their own organization.

Membership Directory:  Keep connected through our Directory of members, their affiliation and contact information.

Chapter News: We keep you plugged in through our monthly e-Developments newsletter and help you connect online via our chapter Facebook and LinkedIn sites. You'll also receive AFP International's monthly e-Wire newsletter for national news on philanthropy.

Lending Library:  Through the Lending Library Program, AFP members have access to a local collection of educational materials on fundraising and philanthropy from the Pierpont-Welde Affiliate Library Collection.

Professional Mentoring Program:  Our nationally recognized program provides our members with group trainings and one-on-one mentoring for one year. The Professional Mentoring Program is for fundraisers with less than three years experience and the Advanced Mentoring is for fundraisers who have three to five years of experience and have a specific career goal to obtain.

Career Services:  Job openings are communicated to members within 24 hours of receipt (except holidays and weekends). Openings are posted on the AFP website and may also be proactively sent to AFP Membership as an e-mail blast. Members can also take advantage of a Resume Counseling Service where seasoned professionals are matched with individuals who are seeking advice on how to structure their resumes, suggestions for enhancing skills and identification of potential industry contacts.

Continual Opportunities for Learning: We offer many additional opportunities for learning and networking through our affiliations with local nonprofit partners including: ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy, Organization of Nonprofit Executives, Planned Giving Roundtable Arizona, Arizona Alliance of Nonprofits, Young Nonprofit Professionals Network AZ, among others.

Certified Fund Raising Executive Designation (CFRE):  A specialized local committee helps to network professionals interested in obtaining their CFRE designation through assistance with the CFRE process, understanding the criteria required to apply, application submission and various opportunities for preparation for the exam.

Career Planner:  Members have access to research, resource providers, trainings, and developmental competencies. You can assess your learning needs and create a development plan including goals and a personal learning schedule. This tool is ideal for those interested in obtaining and maintaining their CFRE credential.

President’s Award:  Annually, a member is recognized with the President’s Award for outstanding service to the Chapter. Members having served the chapter for five years are eligible for this award.

Scholarships for Members:  Conference scholarships are available for attendance at the International, Statewide and Regional Conferences. Continuing Education scholarships are available for programs at the AFP Faculty Training Academy, CFRE Review Course, Executive Leadership Institute, Executive Management Institute, CFRE or ACFRE Certification or Recertification.
