Save the Family is looking for an experienced Fund Development Specialist to carry out the administrative and analytic functions of the Development Department. Additionally, this position is responsible to handle the majority of its social media and event logistic functions.
Our story: Founded in 1988 in Mesa, Arizona, Save the Family is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that specializes in providing housing, supportive services and case management for over 650 homeless, low-income and veteran families annually. We have a robust Career Development Center, Adult classes which include topics such as parenting, financial literacy, personal support, domestic violence, nutrition, etc., children’s programs, and supportive services for veterans. More than 50 families are falling into homelessness each week in the Phoenix area.
As Save the Family grows to serve the needs of more homeless and low-income families, we need an experienced and passionate Fund Development Specialist who can work closely with the rest of the team to shape and implement an ambitious development department strategy. While Save the Family has already put good framework for this position in place, our hope is to add an amazing team player to our team who will partner with us to bring this work to the next level.
REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer
Gift Acknowledgment – data entry, data reporting and letters (35%)
Manage the daily money log of donations to the agency.
Enter gifts into donor database software system, Matchmaker fundraising software.
Generate and mail acknowledgement letters to donors.
Update acknowledgement letters on a quarterly basis.
Pull reports out of Matchmaker for monthly Development Department Board report and Board Development Committee and Board Finance Committee Reports.
Manage the new donor program.
Hearts of Gold Gala – assist Development & Events Manager with logistics (25%)
Attend all planning meetings.
Assist with auction item solicitations as well as solicitation letter creation.
Assist with videography days.
Assist with ordering signage and making sure our branding is present at the event.
Assist with sponsorship logistics.
Social Media (20%)
Working with the Development & Events Manager (DEM), develop annual social media calendar and strategic plan.
Posting on appropriate social media platforms following the calendar.
Proficient in Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Assist Chief Development Officer (10%)
Perform day-to-day administrative duties including accounting requisitions and board reports.
Ability to manage the CDO’s calendar, ensuring she is prepared for all meetings.
Misc Events, Assist the team, Attend meetings and workshops (10%)
Execute any needed tasks for unexpected or intermittent events as instructed by CDO or DEM.
Assist with Back to School Bash, Holiday Sponsorships, Escobedo Christmas Party, Family Success Night.
OUR HIRING PROCESS & TIMELINE:
We will review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
We will begin scheduling phone interviews immediately.
In-person interviews will be scheduled starting in March 2018.
Finalists will be invited to a second-round-one and a half-hour interview and we will make an offer shortly thereafter.
We would like to have the selected candidate start in April-May 2018.

A Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of related experience or High School Diploma/GED + 4 year of related experience
Ability to analyze data and make connections and meaning out of data through regular and accurate reporting
Must be 25 years of age or older due to liability insurance requirements and must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License, reliable transportation, current auto insurance and clean driving record
Ability to work hours outside the standard M-F work week.

Computer skills – must be able to type at least 40 wpm and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suites, donor or volunteer management software, social media and be resourceful
Dynamic fund development and donor cultivation abilities
Experience working with a donor management database
Flexibility and adaptability, able to shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations
High emotional intelligence, able to easily develop deep, trusting relationships with co-workers and individuals from many different backgrounds
Impeccable written and oral communication skills
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range of $35,000-40,000 based on experience
Full-time, non-exempt position, working an average of 40 hours per week.
Generous PTO policy and 11 paid holidays
Eligibility for medical, dental & vision insurance benefits of which Save the Family pays all but $60.00 per month will be available after sixty (60) days of employment
