Save the Family is looking for a Community Outreach Manager to spearhead and implement a robust Community Development program, while managing and developing our existing corporate, clubs/groups/organizations and faith based donor programs and fund development practices.

Our story: Founded in 1988 in Mesa, Arizona, Save the Family is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that specializes in providing housing, supportive services and case management for over 650 homeless, low-income and veteran families annually.  We have a robust Career Development Center, Adult classes which include topics such as parenting, financial literacy, personal support, domestic violence, nutrition, etc., children’s programs, and supportive services for veterans.  More than 50 families are falling into homelessness each week in the Phoenix area.

As Save the Family grows to serve the needs of more homeless and low-income families, we need an experienced Community Outreach Manager who can work closely with the rest of the team to shape and implement an ambitious corporate and faith based fundraising strategy. The Community Outreach Manager is responsible for overseeing all corporate and faith based fundraising initiatives and activities of the organization. While Save the Family has already put frameworks for these corporate and faith based development arenas in place, our hope is to add an amazing leader to our team who will partner with us to bring this work to the next level.

REPORTS TO: Chief Development Officer

SUPERVISES: Volunteer and event staff as needed

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Corporate Development & Management (40%)

Improve and implement our corporate giving program

Oversee corporate donor communications and grow the number and dollar amount of corporate donors to meet the financial goals tied to this

Increase educational and speaking opportunities with corporations to talk about the role and need that Save the Family is serving in our community as well as opportunities to be featured in their internal communications if it is a large company

Evaluate corporate fund development practices regularly and make improvements as needed

Faith-based Development & Management (30%)

Improve and implement our faith-based giving program

Oversee faith-based donor communications and grow the number and dollar amount of faith-based donors to meet the financial goals tied to this

Evaluate faith based fund development practices regularly and make improvements as needed

Increase speaking opportunities with churches to talk about the role and need that Save the Family is serving in our community as well as opportunities to be featured in their publications or e-blasts

Clubs/Groups/Organizations (i.e. Rotary Clubs) Development & Management (10%)

Improve and implement our club/groups/organizations giving program

Oversee Clubs/Groups/Organization donor communications and grow the number and dollar amount of faith-based donors to meet the financial goals tied to this

Evaluate club/groups/organizations fund development practices regularly and make improvements as needed

Increase speaking opportunities with club/groups/organizations to talk about the role and need that Save the Family is serving in our community as well as opportunities to be featured in their publications or e-blasts

Tours & Speaking Engagements (10%)

Work to maintain current information and exciting updates about the agency for tours and help communicate updates to all staff

General Operations (10%)

Assist with all special fundraising events such as the annual gala, Hearts of Gold in February

Work closely with Resource Manager, Career Services Manager and other members of the Development Team to serve as the primary point of contact with corporations/business groups in the community, including solicitation of any corporate opportunities that leverage Save the Family’s impact areas and corporate interests

Participate in staff meetings, attend community events, and otherwise contribute to strengthening the deep roots within our community, both internally and externally

OUR HIRING PROCESS & TIMELINE:

We will review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

We will begin scheduling interviews on May 22nd.

Finalists will be invited to a second-round one-hour interview, and we will make an offer shortly thereafter.

We would like to have the selected candidate start in June or July.

Essential Requirements

A great sense of humor!

Public Speaking abilities

A love for fundraising

A Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business plus a minimum of three years of development experience in the nonprofit sector –or- six years development experience in the nonprofit sector

Able to work some evenings and weekends

Commitment to our mission and our values of Equity, Integrity, Community, Action, and Transformation

Computer skills – must be able to type 50 wpm and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suites, social media and be resourceful

Excellent fund development and donor cultivation abilities

Experience working with faith based communities and grassroots organizations, with a nuanced understanding of diversity

Flexibility and adaptability, able to shift styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations

High emotional intelligence, able to easily develop deep, trusting relationships with individuals from many different backgrounds

Impeccable written and oral communication skills

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range of $47,000-51,000 based on experience

Full-time, exempt position, working an average of 40 hours per week. We believe in work-life balance, and are committed to keeping the workload in alignment with the true hours worked
