 AFP 2009 Scholarships

Beginning in January 2009 opportunities will be available for the following scholarships:
1) Three (3) Introductory Membership Scholarships for those enrolling in the Mentorship program, valued at $175 each
2) Six (6)Introductory Membership Scholarships valued at $175 each
3) One (1) Diversity Membership Scholarship valued at $175
4) Three (3) AFP Educational Programs and Professional Certification Scholarships valued at $250 each
5) One (1) Leadership Academy Scholarship, valued at $1,000

Professional Development Scholarships
(Available to existing AFP members)

2009 Educational Programs and Professional Certification
Scholarships are available for sanctioned AFP International educational programs or professional certifications such as:
Faculty Training Academy, CFRE Review Course, Executive Leadership Institute, Executive Management Institute, CFRE or ACFRE Certification or Recertification.
Available: Scholarships at up to $500 each.
Deadline: open, distributed to the first approved applicants
Criteria: Applicants must meet eligibility criteria for program/certification for which they are applying

2009 AFP Leadership Academy Scholarship
The Leadership Academy’s intensive programs cover a wide range of nonprofit management and leadership topics benefiting AFP members both in their personal experience as association members and in their professional lives as nonprofit executives.

Formal sessions may include issues on succession planning, ethics, government relations and advocacy, diversity recruitment strategies, management skill development, nonprofit organization operations and administration, strategic planning, program development and implementation, faculty training, membership acquisition and retention, marketing and branding, and public relations.

Available: One $1,000 scholarship to cover travel expenses for attendance at this free training event.
Deadline: June 30, 2009
Criteria: Applicants must be AFP Members in good standing and serve as a volunteer in some capacity with the Greater Arizona Chapter.

Membership Scholarships
(Available to new or returning members)

2009 Introductory Membership Scholarship
Available
: Introductory memberships, valued at $175 each.
Deadline: open, distributed to the first approved applicants
Criteria: Applicants must work for a nonprofit organization, have fundraising responsibilities, be newly employed (less than three years) in the field, and never have been an AFP member or have not been an AFP member in the last five years and have enrolled in the Professional Advancement Mentoring Program.

2009 Mentorship Scholarship
Available: Introductory memberships, valued at $175 each.
Deadline: open, distributed to the first approved applicants
Criteria: Applicants must work for a nonprofit organization, have fundraising responsibilities, be newly employed (less than three years) in the field, and never have been an AFP member or have not been an AFP member in the last five years and have enrolled in the Professional Advancement Mentoring Program.

2009 Diversity Membership
Available: Active or introductory memberships,
valued at $295 or $175 each.
Deadline: open, distributed to the first approved applicants
Criteria: Applicants must work for a nonprofit organization, have fundraising responsibilities, and have either never been an AFP member or have not been an AFP member in the past five years. In addition, the applicant must embody one of the following dimensions of diversity: Human Diversity – physical differences or life experiences, including gender, age, race, sexual orientation and physical and mental ability Cultural Diversity - beliefs, values, and personal characteristics, including ethnicity and religion Systems Diversity – organizational structure and management systems, including non-mainstream causes, grassroots organizations and institutional background.
