The Development Director will provide strategic leadership for all fundraising and public relations activities for Neighborhood Ministries. As a key member of the executive team, he/she will participate in the overall long-range strategic planning and management of the organization. The Development Director will plan, execute, evaluate and analyze the development efforts of the organization with the assistance of the executive team and the board of Directors. The development strategic plan will include but is not limited to: major donors, churches, foundations, corporations, annual giving programs, special events, donor acquisitions, grant writing and legacy giving.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Understand the unique world of Christian Community Development and express a sincere personal call to work in a mission among the poor.

Be aligned with the importance of relationships as the key to donor development.

Set direction and implementation of all development functions as the team leader.

Coordinate donor communications including personal visits, phone calls, mailings, receipting, emails and internet communications.

Create and implement a cohesive, wide-ranging fundraising plan i.e. current and potential donors and churches, businesses, like-minded community assoc., and foundations.

Build and manage a personal portfolio of major donors including both present and new donors.

Be able to develop and manage special/capital gift campaigns of $3M and above.

Coordinate any fundraising efforts of the President, key staff, board members, development team and key volunteers.

Maintain integrity and confidentiality of all donor records and information.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and implement legacy giving plans.

Responsible for efforts in grant writing, grant research and grant reporting and also the executing of events.

Ability to manage development duties assigned to team members: major donor officer, grant writer, media coordinator and mailing.

High skills in written and verbal communication.

Experience in analyzing and reporting collected fundraising data.

Be responsible for raising a minimum annual budget of $2M with anticipated revenue increases year over year to be determined.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

Personal and professional interest in line with mission, vision and values of Neighborhood Ministries.

Candidate must have a proven track record of discovering, building relationships and managing major donors and foundation executives, as well as individual donors and volunteers.

Experience in nonprofit development work with a minimum of 5-7 years in direct line fundraising experience managing a portfolio of 150+ donors.

A bachelor’s degree is required and CFRE is preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent and fundraising software (CRM data base related).  In addition, experience with demographic resources for profiling donor prospects.

Experience with new social media techniques and methods.

Track record with growing a donor base.

Experience with coordinated communication strategy, i.e. web, mailings, press release, social media.

Experience with competitive grant writing.

Spanish Language skills a plus.

Be able to describe a faith orientation that integrates the whole life that is rooted in Jesus Christ.
