The founding of Desert Botanical Garden in 1939 was a bold move by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the threat of lost plant species in the Valley of the Sun and took action. One of a select number of public gardens Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the institution is a founding member of the Center for Plant Conservation, was designated by popular vote in 1993 as a "Phoenix Point of Pride” and in 2005 was named by the Governor as one of Arizona’s Treasures. Today, the Garden annually attracts 380,000+ visitors and 38,000 member households.
The Desert Botanical Garden seeks a talented, enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the development office staff and coordinate all aspects of our constituent database, membership fulfillment, gift processing and acknowledgment program, including leading a four-member staff team. Responsibilities include collaborations with other staff to plan and deliver list segmentations, reports and honor rolls for communications with varied audiences.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor level degree or comparable work experience plus minimum of three years’ database experience, including track record with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database and configuration tools.
Knowledge and proficiency with customer service and philanthropic gift processing procedures.
Mastery of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, Outlook and Crystal Reports.
General IT experience.
Knowledge of fundraising, Blackbaud Altru, and Maestro Software applications provides a competitive edge, as does experience migrating from one technology system to another.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience in motivating and managing people.
Ability to oversee all data processing functions and data entry; enthusiasm to continue development of a growing constituent database.
Collaborative problem-solver, good analytical skills, takes initiative, focuses on solutions and exceptional customer service.
Self-motivated, self-sufficient, and able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
High level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential.
Ability to manage expectations, prioritize, meet deadlines and collaborate effectively with others.
Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings.
